Frequently Asked Questions

May I attend the DNC Presidential Debate in December? How do I get tickets?

All tickets to the debate have been distributed. There are no additional tickets available. The DNC was in charge of ticketing and provided a small number to LMU, which were distributed to select students, faculty, and leaders.

How can I get involved?

LMU was able to work with our host partners to create volunteer opportunities for a select group of students. There are no additional opportunities at this time.

Will there be a watch party or other related events leading up to the debate?

Registration for the on-campus watch party is now closed.

How do I request media credentials?

PBS NewsHour managed credentialing for all news media. The media credentialing process opened on Thursday, November 14, and the deadline for requests was Friday, November 22, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. EST. Please contact PBS for more information.

Does LMU subscribe to all of the beliefs held by the candidates who will be taking part in the debate?

As a leading intellectual center, LMU values diversity, a principle expressed through varying viewpoints. Our educational environment is enriched by a free exchange of ideas as LMU seeks to model a culture of inclusivity, honoring multiple perspectives and championing civil discourse, which is often missing in the current political climate. Hosting this event continues LMU’s long-standing tradition of rigorous inquiry, debate, and civic engagement.

What is being done to ensure campus safety surrounding the event?

The safety of the LMU community is and will remain our highest priority. LMU Public Safety and university leadership are working with local, state and federal law enforcement to keep the campus community safe for students, faculty, staff and visitors.

Are any items prohibited at the debate?

·       No political stickers/signs/banners/paraphernalia.
·       No signs or placards, held or worn.
